Daedelus In Sydney

Daedelus is in Sydney this week playing Hyde Park Barracks for the Mad Racket guys this saturday and then next sunday the 8th Febuary at the Lane Way Festival. Do yourself a favor and check this guy out. When so much electronic music these days leaves me cold and emotionless and is just down right boring, Daedelus is a breath of fresh air. Peep the video he made with Taz from SA RA to show support for the Obama campaign.

Thievery Corporation Language Symbolic

Oh wow two posts in a week what's going on you ask ? Suffice to say im motivated by the wealth of great music that i've heard lately.
Anyway keeping it on the Dub tip im going to go with some Thievery Corporation. Language Symbolic is the b side to their The Time We Lost Our Way 7" from 2005 that came out on ESL Music, right in between their Richest Man In Babylon and Cosmic Game albums. Laid back in nature like most of their tracks It features some lovey keys, big bass and the sexy Loulou on vocals. Throw this on at the end of summer day and kick back.

Rhythm And Sound Best Friend

Okay so it's been three months since my last post. Who knew blogging was so time consuming. I could run of a long list of excuses but i won't i'll just get back to business.
When i used to buy techno 12"s from such fine establishments in sydney like Reachin Records (RIP) and BPM (now the Record Store) and funnily enough Dance Arena at Sanity in Pitt Street Mall ( Don't laugh they had some heat in there courtesy of Dave Slade). I came across a few by a group called Basic Channel. I loved there minimal dub based sound and used to muse to myself what it would sound like with vocals.
Obvioulsy they did too and eventually released some records under the moniker Rhythm and Sound. Incorprating their stripped back electronic dub sound with such vocal talents such as Tikiman and Cornel Cambell.
This is a 10" of theirs featuring the singer Love Joy one half of the the female roots crew The Love Joys who put out an album on Wackies in the early 80s.
This is for Chris who told me im the laziest blogger he knows. This one's for you mate !
