C-90: Side B

C-90: Side B is an exhibition by Australian artist and curator Mark Drew, featuring large scale hand painted illustrations of cassette tape spines. The first part of C-90 took place in Sydney late in 2008, with a different version touring to Melbourne, with both shows selling out. The exhibition for 72 Erskine is a continuation of the body of work, and features all new artwork. The inspiration for the show comes from the much loved collections of cassettes that most people had as teenagers in the 1980s & 90s. "In a time of MP3 data and binary information, the imagery C-90 deals with is quite emotive, recalling the graphic side of personal music collections". Drew has exhibited frequently around Australia and has been behind the scenes of many local art shows, as co-owner of China Heights gallery. This will be his last local solo exhibition before taking up residency in Japan. Opening function: Wednesday September 2nd, 6-8pm Show open from Monday August 31st - Saturday September 5th Gallery hours: Mon - Fri: 11-6pm Sat - 11-3pm 72 Erskine Street Sydney NSW 2000 tel & fax: 02-9299 9779 i
