Harmonic 313 When Machines Exceed Human Intelligence

Okay i won't lie Im a huge fan of all things Detroit. From Motown to Underground Resistance to Slum Village and Obie Trice. So When i heard a few years back that Mark Pritchard the man responsible for Harmonic 33 was going to do a Detroit inspired hip hop instrumental album i was very excited. This is around the time Danny Breaks had dropped some interesting 12"s in a similar vein and i had just discovered Dabyre's work.
When Machines Exceed Human Intelligence combines the sounds of Detroit Techno ( albeit slowed down a little) and mixes them up with Hip Hop and Dubstep drum patterns. Its mainly an instrumental affair but Phat Kat and Elzhi pop up on track and the man with the soulful voice Steve Spacek sings on another. The only thing bad about this album is it leaves me wanting another full length album from Spacek with Pritchard handling production. Out now on Warp Records.
